Basking in the success of Sarkar Raj, Ram Gopal Verma today released his second movie of the year, Contract. Made with almost entirely new and experienced cast, Contract has definitely managed to create an impact on the box office. The movie is based on the nexus between underworld and terrorism and surely reminds us somewhat of Satya and Company. However, unlike the earlier films, in Contract, Ramu has shown some excessiveness. One of the examples of this is the way in which the main bad guy Sultan (Zakir Hussain) tilts his head, while talking about placing bombs in schools.

One major flaw with Contract is that it hardly scratches the surface as far as underworld-terrorism nexus is concerned. At the same time, the hero, predictably, falls in love somewhere along the line and overcomes all odds by the end. Though Ramu has made a blatant attempt at commercialization, Contract is not all bad. Some of poignant moments have been captured beautifully, while there are many gross sequences too, especially the one with a close view of the dead bodies. Black humor penetrates the movie throughout and definitely makes an impact on the audience.

As with all the RGV movies, this one also has some excellent performances. Adhvik Mahajan, the guy who plays the lead role, impresses you with his debut performance. Then, we have Sakshi Gulati, who made a promising debut and made her presence felt. As for the other cast members, Prasad Purandare, Zakir Hussain, Vineet Sharma, Sadia Siddiqui, Saurabh Mahajan, all of them deserve to be applauded. Technically speaking, cinematography is excellent and background score is also remarkable. All in all, you can watch the movie in theater if you appreciate the harsh realities of life on-screen.

Contract Pre-release Review
Ram Gopal Varma has come out with yet another flick based on the underworld. Named ‘Contract’, it has been produced by Sanjeev K. Bijli, Ajay Bijli and Praveen Nischol. The movie will be released on 18th July 2008, under the banners of PVR Pictures and Ace Movie Company. Amar Mohile, Bapi-Tutul and Sana Kotwal are its music directors, while Prashant Pandey and Mehboob have provided the lyrics. The star cast of the film includes Adhvik Mahajan, Prasad Purandare, Sumeet Nijhawan, Sakshi Gulati, Zakir Hussain, Kishore Kadam and Upendra Limaye.
Contract is based on the nexus between the underworld and terrorism. One of the main characters in the movie is that of Aman (Adhvik Mahajan). He is a man who has decided to make a mission out of his life and die for the same. Then, we have Ahmad Hussain (Prasad Purandare), the chief of the special cell of Mumbai police. He is a man who never shows any emotion and behind his expressionless face, hides the mind of a genius. He trusts nobody, except himself; to such an extent that even right hand doesn’t know what his left hand is doing. RD (Sumeet Nijhawan) is an eccentric gangster, who is still a kid at heart.

He is the one responsible for the alliance between underworld and terrorism. The rise of RD, as the most successful gangster, comes at the cost of Goonga (Upendra Limaye). Now, Goonga has to live an exiled life, hiding onboard a yacht. He has only one mission, to kill RD. Iya (Sakshi Gulati) is RD’s sister, who falls in love. Whether she has fallen in love with a man or a man’s name, nobody knows. Sultan (Zakir Hussain) is a man who considers creating havoc and killing people as the purpose of his life. Last, but not the least, is Dara (Kishore Kadam), Mumbai’s top encounter cop, who derives pleasure out of killing people.
